For example, a Computer Science BS with a Masters in Statistics and a Minor in Spanish. What about multiple Ph.Ds?

This needs a re-think on what is important to capture. Perhaps only highest degree and a multi-select for education areas, (coarse or fine, Science or Computer Science).

What if we provide a highest from a set list and a fill in text blob for the rest? The parser will still find it.

That sounds like it would work fine.

perhaps we should get end-user feedback?

Agreed. I just wanted us to be in front of the curve.
