First of all, I think this is hands down the best markdown editor out there. Thanks for sharing!

I noticed that when copying and pasting code to a HTML WYSIWYG editor all styles applied to the document are lost. Is there a way to preserve them?

I saw that another editor (Haroopad) maintains all styles, maybe because it runs over webkit.

MacDown’s preview is built on WebKit, too, so that shouldn’t be a problem. :/

I just tried pasting to Pages and Gmail (in Safari), and they both work. What browser are you using? Also, could you try pasting to a local application and see if that works? TextEdit would be enough.

Ok, so I ran a couple more tests and here are my findings:

Copying & pasting from MacDown to:

  • Rich text native app (Mail.app): Both html + styles are pasted.
  • Safari: Both html + styles are pasted.
  • Google Chrome: Only html without styles is pasted.
  • Firefox: Only plain text is pasted.

Tried the same with Haroopad and it worked in all four cases.

Thanks for the quick response!

Hey TP, thanks a lot for adding this feature in the latest the latest version of MacDown (0.2.3)!

This was the only thing that was preventing me from using it everyday and now I have all the awesomeness I could ever ask from a MD editor 😎

Cheers
