The general structure I want is an increase in depth, front to back. A simple paragraph or sentence explaining basic ideas (Divide focal length by eyepiece focal length to get the effective power of the system) - and further back, a page or so on each topic. (A discussion on targets for different powers, the dimming effects on views and why this is good for deep sky, maximum power on a system etc.)

I think this would best work as a short series of chapters and essays - the only real goal is to create something to gently bring a new hobby astronomer up to speed enough to become an informed user of whatever telescope they use.
