Introduction

ManiVault Studio is a modular plug-in visualization system intended for high-dimensional data exploration.

The system allows for creating custom visualization applications tailored especially to your specific field, data and preferences. Applications are composed of a number of modular 'lego-brick' plug-ins, that can be combined to fit your needs. The plug-ins are fully self-encapsulated, but can communicate through a common core.

Using the system

You can get started using the system with a selection of plug-ins right now by downloading the ManiVault Studio Installer.

Developing with the system

Requirements

Documentation

Documentation of the core system is automatically generated by Doxygen and available here.

Usage

The easiest way to get started developing with ManiVault is to use the Development Bundle. Detailed instructions to get the system set up on your machine can be found there.

If you wish to create a custom plug-in, see Writing your first Plug-in

Contributing to the project

Contributions to the project are welcomed. A list of current issues can be found in the GitHub Issues of the core, and in the respective plug-ins. Contributions made to these repositories should be done by Pull Request.

Research

The ManiVault Studio system is described in the paper ManiVault: A Flexible and Extensible Visual Analytics Framework for High-Dimensional Data, IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics (Proceedings of IEEE VIS 2023), 30(2), 2024, DOI: 10.1109/TVCG.2023.3326582, arXiv: 2308.01751.

It is the result of a collaboration between the Division of Image Processing at Leiden University Medical Center and the Computer Graphics & Visualization Group at TU Delft.

License

The project falls under the LGPL-3.0 license which can be read about in detail here
