Open Transit Data and APIs

Software developers looking to create multi-agency applications will have to use several APIs for a given region. Here is a region-based listing for greater Washington, DC, USA. This is an expanded and updated version of this blog post.
It might be interesting to prepare a “report card” for this local transit data. How could these be translated into ratings?
WMATA has shared a regional GTFS file containing several more agencies but it is not yet maintained for public release.
