This may be necessary since 667dbbd leads to a random walk around a sporesize equal to the number of genes.

How would you do it?

  • cells vote for their preferred spore size as Nicholas mentioned?
  • try to always minimize spore size? but allow cheaters to sneak in
  • are there hints in the literature on how an actual biological system work?

In any case in think it would be a good idea to keep several options in the code in order to be able to compare outcome of different assumptions.

PS: does afbbaff lead to a similar behavior?
