Project Lead: @kaschm

Mentor: @FelixHenninger

Welcome to OL6, Cohort A! This issue will be used to track your project and progress during the program. Please use this checklist over the next few weeks as you start Open Leadership Training 🎉.

Before Week 1 (Sept 11): Your first mentorship call

  • Complete the OLF self-assessment (online, printable). If you're a group, each teammate should complete this assessment individually. This is here to help you set your own personal goals during the program. No need to share your results, but be ready to share your thoughts with your mentor.
  • Make sure you know when and how you'll be meeting with your mentor.

Before Week 2 (Sept 18): First Cohort Call (Open by Design)

Before Week 3 (Sept 25): Mentorship call

  • Look up two other projects and comment on their issues with feedback on their vision statement.
  • Complete your Open Canvas (instructions, canvas). Comment on this issue with a link to your canvas.
  • Start your Roadmap. Comment on this issue with your draft Roadmap.

Before Week 4 (Oct 2): Cohort Call (Build for Understanding)

  • Look up two other projects and comment on their issues with feedback on their open canvas.
  • Pick an open license for the work you're doing during the program.
  • Use your canvas to start writing a README, or landing page, for your project. Link to your README in a comment on this issue.

This issue is here to help you keep track of work during the first month of the program. Please refer to the OL6 Syllabus for more detailed weekly notes and assignments past week 4.

Hey @kaschm! The best part of last week's Moz Leaders session was hearing about your project during breakout group. The project sounds critical in this moment of so much misunderstanding around AI (and the way the data representation might play a critical role in outcomes. I am thinking about all the regulation/policies that will result from the widespread use of AI, but there is so little talk (or understanding) of the role that data sets play in the whole AI phenomenon. So....please drop down your draft of the mission here. I would be happy to offer some basic feedback. Hope we can connect again.

@miazamoraphd aw, such kind words! Sorry it took me a bit to find them ;) Here are some of the materials I've drafted for the project:

Materials

  • Mission: The Dataset Nutrition Label project engages with people who work with data to build standards for dataset 'nutrition', in turn driving healthier artificial intelligence.
  • Canvas is at this link

This is so important! TBH I thought this was literally about "nutrition labelling" 😅. Maybe find another word than "nutrition" (or put the quotes in Dataset "Nutrition" Label?) but also make sure I'm not the only data point before considering my feedback.

Bring on the dataset health-o-meter label things. You know this already, but I remain seriously stoked about your project and vision.

@kmahelona fair feedback, thanks! we chose the name because it made it easy to explain the concept, but you're right that it can be confusing. Thanks for the feedback.

@ju-liem ;)
