We need a place with a good URL for contributors and the larger public to see what the IoT hub is all about and find links to further resources.

Requirements:

  • Simple yet dynamic page that describes what the IoT project is.
  • Easy to edit by core team.

Possible solutions:

Connect with @cassiemc and @KGorr to understand the information architecture of MLN and where an IoT hub landing page would best sit.

Based on the mofo information architecture we've been working on https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1MOhf0PSvCU2flniNsbl1FW0xPi0ZnJHJJEZ3qlyAcrE/edit#slide=id.g11d935e442_0_1

We recommend the URL - iot.mozilla.org
and any sub pages you might have would be a subdomain of that URL. For example a blog would be - iot.mozilla.org/blog

Depending on the timeline and content, this could potentially be built with the CMS. cc @simonwex

Sounds a bit like it would be a blog or something, in which case, I like @hannahkane's suggestion, or continuing to use the ghost blog we have setup.

However, we should probably start with a list of what should be on that page. Building a similar page for research, it was useful for the design team to identify exactly what the content was and who it was for when I asked for help. e.g.

  • Short descriptive paragraph of the project
  • Link to blog post with announcement information
  • Link to MoCo Connected Devices wiki?
  • Huge picture of @ileddigital's face juxtaposed with student projects
  • Cool gif gallery of IoT devices that fail hilariously

Just wanted to follow up on this. @thornet @secretrobotron - any more info/decisions here? Happy to help push this forward, if you want to go the CMS route.
