Welcome to the Igorr wiki!

The Idea

Fundamentally in IGORR you play with other people to beat the game. So beat the final boss, save the world, all that stuff. But there is a little twist.

The idea behind IGORR is to create a game that gives you the feeling to be part of a different world, without making that world untouchable as many MMOs do. Players are supposed to be able to play the game by themselves and in groups and fundamentally change the game world.

You open a gate? It's open for everyone. You rescue the shopkeeper of a village? Now everyone can buy there. But not just good things. You take the shortcut over the snowy mountain pass. And half an hour later an avalanche blocks the path for everyone to follow.

Of course this is quite ambitious so there is one rather severe limitation. The server and game world are set back when the game is beaten

That does not mean that everything is lost. Players should be able to keep rewards. But those should be mainly cosmetical or for convenience and not so much to increase power.

Since the game is ment to be played by several/many people at once it is important to make sure that each one of those players can do something useful for the ultimate goal. The implications of this is to provide a lot of easily accessible content as well as to make progression easier in parts of the game that have already been beaten.

And there is one more thing. The game works modular. So if you want to provide something to the game project you shall be able to just add your own item/character/map or even town or boss to the game. The vision is to create a world that is small at the beginning and grows over time to provide a difference experience after every reset. Pushing back the final boss and making for an interesting ever-changing game.

Right now the game engine is not quite finished. But more importantly there is no game world so far to be expanded. Once that is done I will open the gates to all kinds of improvements and extensions to the game.

#Principles

Another focus of the game and a reason for its name is that you build your character from body parts.

You start out as a small blob which isn't able to do much, but you gather legs and body parts which enable you to attack. Your main body contains slots for different kinds of body parts. And some place along the way you should be able to find a new main body, with a different look.
