Is there a way to create a flitevox file from scratch? (for example, reading a book or something)

I need to check my notes and much has happened since I did active development on mimic. I think https://github.com/festvox/festvox is a good start and then the tools in the "tools" folder should be usable to generate flitevox files. But as I recall it this was a bit tricky. I'll see if I can find the original resources but they may have been on festvox.org ...

Hey there,

Just wanted to flag that Mimic1 is very old technology. If you're aim is to create a custom voice then Mimic1 isn't the best way to go.

If there's a reason you're choosing Mimic1 specifically then ignore me. But more likely I think you'd be interested in recording voice samples with Mimic Recording Studio which can then be used to train a voice with any more contemporary TTS engine like Coqui TTS, or our soon to be released Mimic3!

Thank you both!
@krisgesling Do you have an approximate ETA for Mimic3 ? The voices just seems real

No official release date just yet, but I'd certainly be hoping that it's out within the next few weeks 🤞
