Version 0.3.0 Beta is a limited beta release of the Building Electrical Efficiency Analysis Model (BEEAM), which is the working name for the Modelica library originally developed under the Energy Design and Scoping Tool for DC Distribution Systems project. BEEAM models the electrical efficiency of building electrical distribution systems using harmonic power flow. This release supports the development of prototype building electrical distribution models for the U.S. Department of Energy medium office prototype building.

This limited beta release is intended for use primarily by the tool developers, team members, and project partners. Other users should be aware that this is an early beta with limited features and that the development team does not have resources to provide robust technical support.

Changes:

  • Normalize AC/DC converter efficiency curve parameters (note: not backwards-compatible with BEEAM 0.2)
  • Add models for simple (idealized) single-phase and three-phase inverters, rectifiers, and bidirectional converters
  • Add idealized DC, single-phase AC, and three-phase AC load blocks
  • Add idealized DC power sources
  • Include Power-over-Ethernet cable option
  • Remove placeholder for unimplemented motor models
  • Improve, expand, and document empirical efficiency model efficiency scripts
  • Standardize naming convention for modeled converters
  • Improve documentation in many places
