I've tested this locally and it fixes the defect. I just pushed up a change to remove the now-unused variable. Since CI wasn't run previously on this branch, I'll wait for green lights before merging.

So, there are actually CI comments all green on the initial commit and Mac CI just passed the last commit. It's just that the CI comments only show on the commit pages, not here. Merging.
