NixOS before Nix on Download Page

Introduce your stance
Having the Nix section be the first on the download page has always seemed less than optimal. New users, many of whom do not know the difference between Nix and NixOS, are more likely to download the first thing they come across, which is most cases would not be what they are looking for. Experienced users will know the difference and would scroll down. A better organization would be to place the NixOS section before the Nix section.

Describe the issue
I suggest that the download section for NixOS be placed before the Nix section. Further, there probably should be a succinct explanation of each and why one would want one or the other, along with links that jump directly to the appropriate section, at the top above both to guide visitors.

+1. Having them side by side with a brief overview of the differences could be nice. Users would click on the one they're interested in for further instructions.

The current OS could also be detected to reduce the amount of irrelevant text on the page.

And have an overall "downloads" page that gives a summary of each with links... I like it. Mark
