Northbridge is an entirely charitable organization. Yes, charitable as in "U.S. IRS income tax-exempt." More to this point though, we are charitable as in "full of love and good will; benevolent; kind; liberal in judging of others; disposed to look on the best side and avoid harsh judgement." [Webster]

As a contributor to any Northbridge project, we welcome you into a charitable community, steeped in those qualities.

  • Enjoy your colleagues on this project. Encourage them and expect for your own heart to grow larger as you give of your talents.

  • Understand that all commitments (as in, 'git commit') are governed under the GNU General Public License (GPL), and as such your work will be made available, without remuneration to you or to Northbridge, to the public for open source purposing.

  • Please make your task commitments (as in, 'I promise to do this') in good faith. Things will come up from time-to-time, of course. However, if you foresee difficulty achieving your commitment, please negotiate a smaller task or sit that sprint out. Sprint Cycle

  • Maintain your own work environment, with the tools required to achieve your task commitments. (Each project Wiki has specific instructions regarding environment setup.) This might be a coding environment, a device testing setup, or even a documentation framework. Any way, your colleagues will gladly help with "hey, have you ever seen this?!" kinds of questions. In general it is expected that project contributors posses or can acquire most of the technical knowledge required to achieve their commitments.

  • Looking to develop your skills? Every team has at least one Mentor. Check with a team Mentor or Coach for availability.

  • Make a good faith effort to join contributor calls on whatever schedule is established for your team/project.

  • To the extent that we are all wealthy, we must give generously to maintain this visionary organization. Consider a generous financial contribution about 1x per year.

  • To the extent that we are all poor, we at Northbridge eat the food we serve. Work as if your life depended on it. Because, actually, it does. "Until we are all free, we are none of us free. " [Emma Lazarus, MLK and others]

We really are going to change the world. Bet on it, and welcome aboard!
