The PackageSourceMapper is a standalone tool to onboard an existing project into Package Source Mapping.
How might we integrate this into VS?
There's a relationship between PM UI Actions and this onboarding with #12616

Ideas are:

  • Introduce a button to the VS Options page to generate mappings (if source mapping is not yet enabled)
  • PM UI Status could have an Enable link to do this automatically (if source mapping is not yet enabled)
  • Both?
  • Neither?/Other?

Cleaning up mappings may be a scenario we want to cover as a future possibility.
