Do you want to request a feature or report a bug?
Feature

What is the current behavior?
The export to PDF function does not have any option to fine tune the quality of images to be embedded in the exported PDF file.

What is the expected behavior?
A dialogue with options to fine tune the images quality (e.g. lossless compression, lossy compression, quality level, color or BW mode etc.)

Which versions of DesktopEditors, and which OS are affected by this issue? Did this work in previous versions of DesktopEditors?
All versions of DesktopEditors and all OS are affected

Hello, @dreamofi.
Thank you for your enhancement.
I created a new issue 40105 in our private issue tracker.

For reference, the default ONLYOFFICE PDF settings are: PDF Version: 1.7 - important as some older viewers can't view this format. Metadata: lists Ascensio as the PDF producer, ONLYOFFICE as the CreatorTool and has a create/modify date

I couldn't figure out the default DPI but I'm guessing it was 300 based on a single page PDF being 186k. That's probably what I'd pick, but lots of document types can be less than this and save space as @dreamofi is suggesting with this feature.

We have been doing tests to understand how Onlyoffice 5.4.x can generate a 4MB PDF file while the DOCX is 950KB and LibreOffice 6.3 export the same PDF :

  • 1MB (at full images resolution) and
  • 239KB (at 150 DPI)

It is a mystery for us ... We will still try to understand, but this is an important issue

PS: it affects also Document Server

Is there any news about a picture compression option?

I need to save a PDF file from a Word document where I have inserted some screenshots. The screenshots look completely fine in Word in https://www.onlyoffice.com/de/ but when I download the document as PDF they look absolutely horrible.

I haven't found a way to deactivate picture compression. Could you help me out?
