I do not agree on two points.
I understand the pain of having someone reporting something already reported, but this can be addressed in a number of ways, one of them being Issue Templates. You can create templates for several kind of issues or feature request that will help having a more thorough background on the request being made (and also to guide the user towards resources addressing all common issues or to search first the issues to see if something is already there). |

The basic problem with the tags attached to bugs is that only admins can handle them. OTOH, the traditional way is to mark bugs with an acronym in the header can be used by the reporter. I can see the use of at least three:
Could we agree to use some tags like this? |

I think that if you use issue templates, you can have predefined tags for those. |

We can do both things if agreed and Pavel or Dave can apply the templates. I would like to see I would be happy to make the templates shorter and more concise after some specific discussion about the template. |

What about "Internal Plugin" Issues?
Should they be filed with OpenCPN Issues? or with the plugin git repos Issues? |

OpenCPN "Issues" are:
Note: Problems in the official Debian/Ubuntu package should be reported using the official Debian BTS or the Ubuntu bug reporting tools.
OpenCPN Issues are not:
See the OpenCPN.org for supported OS
On linux we support debian packages for Debian/Ubuntu and Flatpak, primarily for other distros but it works also on Debian/Ubuntu.
The PPA is our own private build chain for Debian packages, so it co-exists with Flatpak.
