Running the current 3.95.1 beta for generic x86_64 platforms.

My system is an asus eeeboxpc 1501p.

Linux OpenELEC 3.13.5 #1 SMP Wed Mar 5 21:16:16 CET 2014 x86_64 GNU/Linux

All audio has this behavior where it seems like its stuttering but in fact its really just dropping in an out.

The cpu nearly gets pegged while playing any music. This could be the visualization.

Local video renders and plays perfectly, the audio however has the same effect. Streaming video is the same.

I first saw this hours after the release was announced when I upgraded, I quickly reverted back to the stable 3.2.4 ION x86_64 build and all was fine.

I went back today to the latest beta generic x86_64 and did a hard reset.

I have uploaded logs here, https://github.com/jbreiding/openelec_logs/raw/master/log-2014-03-08-21.07.05.zip

This problem persisted in 3.95.7. I found the problem to be present in xbmcbuntu as well. running speaker-test exhibited the same problem. Confirmed bug is alsa kernel model. Currently running 3.15 rc on xbmcbuntu and problem is no longer present.

When 3.15 releases I may try an openelec build with that kernel.

Am I right in assuming that this is happening when NOT passing the audio through to a receiver? I believe I'm seeing the same on an ION using the analogue output. Ive had to resort to passing through the audio to the TV for decoding over HDMI.

Is this a case of waiting for kernel 3,15 (which i see is now at RC8) to be released? Is it likely that Openelec 4 be bumped to this kernel?

Thanks,
Chris

Any News on this :)?

This has resolved itself for me with the release of 4.2 which bumped the kernel to 3.16
