What is the Food Map Project?

What Problem does it Solve?

In a nutshell the goal is to provide an easy and accurate tool for people in need to lookup where they can get food in this time of need. Some of the primary resources available now aren’t the easiest to navigate and don’t always have key information that would help plan a trip such as hours of operation.

The Food Map Project began as a response to the needs of a the local mutual aid group MainersTogether. Organizers speak daily with people who need assistance accessing food support and hunger relief services. The existing maps and locations for food pantries and pickups were not up to date; we are working with them to create an easily searchable map that organizers and the public can access. We are now collaborating with both MainersTogether and the Good Shepherd Food Bank on data collection and maintenance.
