About Odniel
Hi. I'm 35 years old, married, with 3 boys that keep me busy. I'm still active duty, stationed in Hawaii, but I'm looking to expand my skill set. I've done my tour around the world: Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea, and other places. Also, I've been lucky enough to get educated while still in too. I've tried to learn coding before with books but it never made sense until recently.
I'm currently about 6 months into my journey. I've mainly worked on my front-end skills (html, css, JS) but I have at least a basic understanding of the back-end. I've used TreeHouse, Free Code Camp (working through the intermediate algorithms), and gone through multiple Udemy courses like "The Web Developer Bootcamp" by Colt Steel to get an overall understanding. I am a beginner still and I understand that learning to program is a lifelong journey.
I'm interested in learning more about JavaScript, front end and back end. I'm also interested in learning more about frameworks like React and Angular. I've read through Eloquent once (more like slow skimming) but I would like to dive in. In addition to JS, I'm also interested in Ruby and Rails (probably my next move, after completing front end training with TreeHouse and FCC), and Python. Beyond web development, I'm interested in Computer Science in general, audio software, problem solving, databases, and education. I'm also interested in pair programming if anybody is game.
I have an entrepreneurial spirit as I like to invent and create, and make businesses. Although I intend to enter the tech industry as a junior web dev at some point, I'm equally interested into bringing some of my ideas to reality. Learning more about JavaScript will put me closer to my ever-changing goal horizon.
