FillColour Action

Optrix Pty. Ltd edited this page Oct 27, 2019 · 1 revision

The FillColour action changes the fill colour on a vector shape.

Illustrator

The parameter is the name of the layer that the object appears on. You should isolate the object on it's own layer.

The column should contain the complete CMYK colour, plus the opacity in the following format - C,M,Y,K,O - where each of these is a 0-100 value. So solid Cyan is 100,0,0,100,100.

Looking up your Colours

You shouldn't have to type in these colour names, particularly when they usually MEAN something. If you take a look at the example Excel file for Photoshop, you will notice that we use a VLOOKUP to look up the colour from a table in another worksheet, based on the value of an earlier column.

This means that if you change colour for a particular style of card, you make one change and all of your cards are updated and consistent.

InDesign

The parameter is the name of the layer that the object appears on. You should isolate the object on it's own layer.

The column should contain the name of the swatch colour you want to use. You must use a valid name here, otherwise your script may fail.

We suggest creating colours with names that match the data you'd normally consider putting in the column. For example, if you have different colours for Attack and Defence cards, you could create a colour named Attack and a colour named Defence.

In Other Programs

This action is only available in programs that support vector shapes and shape layers. It is currently not available for Photoshop - if you need it, we would suggest using the ColourOverlay Action.
