Add or Edit Fields of Items with URIs

- Find Creators group on Ingest Form
- In the first dropdown field, select the type, such as Creator, Photographer, Editor
- Type in name to trigger autocomplete search of LCNAF, select from list if possible
- OR Find existing record
- LC Name Authority File:
- Search at http://id.loc.gov (select LC Name Authority File)
- Confirm entry is the one you want. Example: for Benjamin A. Gifford: http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n92004880.html
- Look for the URI field:
http://id.loc.gov/authorities/names/n92004880
- Opaque Namespace:
- Visit http://opaquenamespace.org, use Search box to locate names, searching for 'Wanda' gives results, one of which is the URI

- Visit http://opaquenamespace.org, use Search box to locate names, searching for 'Wanda' gives results, one of which is the URI
- Copy/paste the URI into the field
- LC Name Authority File:
- Find Subjects on Ingest Form
- In the first dropdown field, select LC Subject.
- Type in subject to trigger autocomplete search of LCSH, select from list if possible
- OR Locate existing entry in controlled vocabulary:
- LC Subject Headings:
- Search at http://id.loc.gov (select LC Subject Headings)
- Confirm result is the one you want. Example: College presidents http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85028315.html
- Look for the URI field below the subject title. Example URI:
http://id.loc.gov/authorities/subjects/sh85028315
- Thesaurus for Graphic Materials:
- Search at http://id.loc.gov (select Thesaurus for Graphic Materials)
- Confirm result is the one you want. Example: Agricultural equipment: http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/graphicMaterials/tgm000147.html
- Look for the URI field below the subject title. Example URI:
http://id.loc.gov/vocabulary/graphicMaterials/tgm000147
- Opaque Namespace
- Visit http://opaquenamespace.org, use search box to find subjects
- Confirm result is the one you want. Example: Crown Zellerbach

- Use that same page address as the URI
- Getty AAT
- Search at http://www.getty.edu/research/tools/vocabularies/aat/
- Confirm result is the one you want. Example: Administration buildings http://www.getty.edu/vow/AATFullDisplay?find=buildings&logic=AND¬e=&english=N&prev_page=1&subjectid=300007049
- Find the concept ID. Example: 300007049. Right above that is a link called 'Semantic View'. Can hover over to check, should look like:
http://vocab.getty.edu/aat/300007049
. Right-click on that, select 'Copy link address' or 'Copy link location'.
- Copy/paste the URI into the field
- LC Subject Headings:
- Find 'Groupings' group on Ingest Form
- In the first dropdown field, choose the Set field
- If brand new Digital Collection, contact Ryan
- Select Collection from list in next dropdown
- Add more Set entries (click green + button) as needed
- Add entry under Primary Set and select Collection
- Find the 'Sources' group on the Ingest Form
- In the first dropdown field, select Local Collection Name
- Visit http://opaquenamespace.org and use the search, either by title or collection ID number.
- Find URI. Example:
http://opaquenamespace.org/ns/localCollectionName/p_117
- Copy/paste the URI into the field
- Can use type-ahead here, but results can be problematic, can't always tell which result you really want. Also type-ahead labels are different than generated labels in Oregon Digital
- Find the 'Geographics' group on the Ingest Form
- In the first dropdown field, select Location
- Find the URI for the location, search Geonames.org: http://geonames.org
- Confirm the entry in search results is correct (check county, check on map by clicking title of result)
- From the Search Results, click on the little colored icon, new page should be map view showing numeric ID for location
- Example Web URL: http://www.geonames.org/5753969/spring-lake.html
- Important part is the numeric ID, and we want the full URI
- Change 'www' in URL to 'sws' and remove the name and .html but not the slash
- Example URI:
http://sws.geonames.org/5753969/
(KEEP THE LAST SLASH) - Paste the URI into the field
- Items should already have a license, but you may want to change and either relax restrictions or add restrictions
- To pick a different license, review licenses on http://oregondigital.org/copyright
- Find the Rights group on Ingest Form
- In the first dropdown field, select Rights
- Select the URI for the license. Example:
http://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/mark/1.0/
