Observing with ease

Tired of managing the NSObjectProtocol objects returned by NSNotificationCenter's addObserverForName()?

Example Usage

class MyHappyPlace: Observable /* It's a protocol */ {
  func greeting() {
    postNotificationName("Greeting") // <----- That was easy!
  }

  deinit {
    removeObservers() // <----- Yes! indeed :)
  }
}

class MyHappyObject: ObservableObserver /* It's also a protocol */ {
  var myHappyPlace: MyHappyPlace

  func do_something_awesome() {

    myHappyPlace.addObserverForName("Greeting") { (note) in   // <------ Now that's hot! (it's the Observable protocol)
      print("Welcome!")
    }

  }

  deinit {
    stopObserving() // <------ Oooou nice one ;)~ this removes any observing from us
  }
}

Two protocols

  • Observable

This protocol gives your class the addObserverForName() and removeObservers() methods for free (as well as postNotification() and postNotificationName() shortcut methods)

  • ObservableObserver

This protocol gives your class the stopObserving() method for free
