Also maybe this account would be useful - if it is set to deliver the prompt on the e-mail added, when the account was created. |
For Turkish, I can help as well. |
I can handle Bahasa Indonesia sir |
Nice. :-) Probably we will use Transifex, as suggested by AlexTalker in another ticket. |
Yea, it is usefull than many service now. |
@Emdek Transifex is good site, xfce, Xonotic, QupZilla(another qt browser) used transifex for translation! |
@Emdek My native langulage - Russian. |
Hi, I have never used Transifex and I don't know how much time I can devote to this task, but I'm willing to collaborate translating Otter to Spanish. For what I've seen, Transifex is a collaborative service right? |
@richarson, I Guess that yes, I didn't have time yet to fully investigate it. |
It is a good service afaik, I have also used for Vanilla forums translations... |
When you will need Ukrainian translation I would participate. |
I can help for Portuguese and French. At the time of the translation, if I am not being participative here, you can send an email to me asking for it. |
I think I could help with the german translation, if desired. |
Translation process will be started around 16.03.2014. |
On Transifex, I suppose. My account there is fri - for the maintainers to be able to add me as coordinator for Czech language. :-) The localization file format? Could we get it already now in advance? |
@pafri, most probably yes, I don't see better alternative. ;-) Here is example file: |
Also the example file could be used already now, and then add possible changes to it, as I understand it (?) |
Nice to hear this. For TR, my user name is "magruf" you can add me team member or admin. |
ok thanks |
I´ve just finished the translation of the file for Otter localization (almost 100 %, I let some strings to be examined and completed later). |
Hi, I´ve almost forgot to send the file. |
Initially, shall I translate this file as well? |
@zahek, if you want, then why not. ;-) |
Actually, I have been vaited official translation page but initially I can start from that page. Thanks. |
Transifex account is finally ready to use: |
Yay! Thanks, @Emdek :) |
Great @Emdek , ready to work 👍 |
@Emdek BTW, I've been translated some strings , any chance to upload them into system. |
Also... Done. :-) |
Thanks. :-) @zahek, oops, I'm sure I've changed selection correctly, fixed. |
In case it didn't go through, I'll be on the french translation. You can add me to the project, I use the same name there. |
I made a preliminary translation into Russian language. Some lines until he left without translation, perhaps they need to be changed:
|
@Katarn, I've fixed these that were obvious, other have to be discussed. |
@Emdek When can we use translations or possible to do now? |
@zahek, hopefully soon. |
I'm trying to formulate the procedure the way I understand it from this thread. Correct me when I get it wrong.
Tell me if I am missing anything, because I don't want to miss a thing. |
As I see it, you are on right way. You requested the language creation on Transifex, also in the moment, you would be accepted and the language team created/ you accepted as translator, you can start the work. Of course, you could take the template, open it in Qt linguist, set the locale to for example Estonian, and start the work. Then after the Estonian team creation, you could simply proceed and upload the translation file (no matter how much higher number of strings would be translated to that moment). |
@ersi-dnd, that gist is outdated. |
@pafri What is "the template"? Will it be assigned to me with a message at Transifex or is it some obvious file somewhere that I am missing? |
Now when you are accepted on Transifex to Estonian team of Otter Browser, you could download the file from there for translation and work offline, and upload the translated file back (whenever you want, potentially after each change you make, but practically, when you for example translate 100 strings, and want to continue tomorrow, and when you have intention to upload the file today), or you could use the Transifex GUI and start translating there, without download/upload the file. The files there are untranslated, also the second part of translation couples in strings is empty now, and you can fill it with translation. That could be seen as template for translation. Locale is already set to proper language. |
…related to translations, references #32
Translations probably should be started in early February, after translatable strings will be initially stabilized (some review from native English speakers would be appreciated) so first beta could be localized at least a bit.
We will probably stick with standard Qt infrastructure:
http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-5/internationalization.html#producing-translations
It is more modern that good ol' gettext and supported out of the box.
There is need to setup procedures and maybe some infrastructure to improve translations work flow, like translation statistics etc.
Any useful ideas are welcomed. :-)
