Motor Sizing

Servo Motor

  • Mass of the body to hold(m)=0.5Kg
  • Acceleration due to gravity(g)=9.8m/^2
  • Coefficient of Friction(μ) = 0.5
  • Diameter(D)=7 cm (r)=3.5 cm
  • Number of Contact surfaces(S)=4
  • angle = 10 degree
  • Factor of Safety (FS)=1.5

Force

We Know, F = M + M(sinθ + S * μ * cosθ)

So,

F = 0.5 +0.5(sin(10°) + 4 * 0.5 * cos(10°))

F = 1.5616 N

Torque

We Know,

T = F * r * (F.S)

So,

T = 1.5616 * 3.5 * 1.5

T = 8.1984 Kg-Cm

The Torque needed by Servo Motor : 8.1984 Kg-Cm

Suitable Servo Motor : Tower Pro MG-995

Battery Sizing

Battery

SI DEVICE NAME WORKING VOLTAGE CURRENT DRAWN
1 L.C.D Display 16 x 2 5 V 200 mA
2 Arduino Uno 5V 100 mA
3 Servo 5V 1400 mA
4 Pizzo Buzzer 5V 30 mA
Supply required 5 V 1730 mA

Factor of Safety=1.2

Supply required for safe functioning of all components 5V 2076 mA

In our case working hour = 1 hour.

So,

THE BATTERY TO BE USED SHOULD BE OF 5V AND 2.076 A-hr
