Twisted Metal Head-on [Extra Twisted Edition] : broken fire effect + incorrect resolution rendering #2226
Comments
The fire looks fine to me? Did you try Full blending accuracy, I don't see the issue. As for the rendering resolution, 720x480 is Progressive Scan aka 480P. I would only be concerned If the game doesn't support it, or if there were rendering glitches as a result. |
Not all fire effect are broken, some are fine, some other are completely broken as you can see (I allways use full blending): And for the resolution issue I was talking about the right of the screen wich is black in FMV's even in software mode. Note: This YouTube video show the difference between the ps3 60gb and the 80gb and in this video you can see the same broken fire effect in twisted metal Under emulation. |
Alot of fixes are hard to find and take dedicated time to diagnose. I wouldn't expect a fix anytime soon. I'm sure you can play it in the SW renderer without glitches, no? ;) |
No bud, this problem persists all the time, in HW or SW renderer, it sucks because the game plays flawlessly... But those glitches (and the one of the fire also) are present in both modes... |
This game's FMVs are meant to be letterboxed (640x368 with 40 pixel top/bottom bars). Without this patch, FMVs are rendered at 720x480 with bars on 3 sides (40 pixels at the top, 80 on the right, 72 at the bottom). Related to PCSX2#961 and PCSX2#2226.
Sorry for little off topic. Black doors are sadly VU0 issue, and there is no way to fix it on pcsx2 properly without breaking other games (probably). You can grab this emu to play that game, but i can't guarantee it wouldn't brake other stuff ingame. This is hack that just can't be implemented to pcsx2 at all. https://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Fixing-unplayable-games?pid=612373#pid612373 Fire effect still broken as it seems to be FPU issue. |
Nice! Thanks a lot man! you are awesome... |
These issues are all resolved as of the latest master (with a patch for the fire as that's unfixable) FMV issue will be handled in the meta FMV issue linked in the OP |
@Ghaleon777 can you make a picture from master ( win7 isnt supported anymore ) and can you try VU Sync gamefix to see if that fixes it |
Hey bro, im using Windows 10, i enabled the VU Sync gamefix and it fixed the black doors! |
We'll get that put in the gamedb so it's automatic :) Thanks! |
Awesome, by the way, awesome progress on this emulator, it runs much better than before. All the best! |
if it's problematic for you, then you've disabled game fixes, which you should not do. |
funnily enough i tried out one of the nightly builds for the hell of it and that one fixed the issue |
