Describe the question
I am trying to preseed some settings in Ubuntu 22.04 desktop and I am having major problems. I can only get the full name, user name, and auto login to fill in correctly. I have had no luck creating a normal user, setting a clear text password, setting the locale/location/time zone, setting the installation type, and the keyboard.

What you have tried
I have used multiple examples from the 'net to no avail. I have tried using d-i and ubiquity. I just cannot grasp the workings of cloud-init.

Steps you already took.
I have spent hours and hours checking syntax and spelling, and changing from one person's example to the next without any success.
Expected behavior
a properly preseeded ubuntu 22.04 desktop install.

A clear and concise description of what you expected to happen.
a properly preseeded ubuntu 22.04 desktop instal

If I recall correctly, preseed only allows you to create the one (admin) user.

Please see if this answer to another question helps you.

  1. If you want to create one user that is available after installation, use the preseed technique as shown in step 6 here.
(Be sure to include sudo in the passwd/user-default-groups list).
Step 5 of this same answer also shows how to set locale (i.e. time zone).

  2. If you want to create user(s) available in the Live environment (and after installation), create the user(s) in Cubic's Terminal page, as shown here.
(You should not execute usermod -a -G sudo <user> for each user, since you indicated that you do not want these users to have sudo privileges).

Hi PJSingh,
I have tried your suggestion using steps 5 and 6 above, but the password is still not filled in, and the keyboard and time zone info still need to be manually entered.
I have gotten the full name, user name, and auto login to be entered using both d-i and ubiquity. This is where I am stuck.
Thanks again for any help you can offer.
