These files are for drafting a U.S. Patent Application using LaTeX or LyX.

The complete CTAN file set can be found at: http://mirror.ctan.org/macros/latex/contrib/uspatent

This work may be distributed and/or modified under the
conditions of the LaTeX Project Public License, either
version 1.3 of this license or (at your option) any
later version.
The latest version of the license is in
http://www.latex-project.org/lppl.txt
and version 1.3 or later is part of all distributions of
LaTeX version 2003/06/01 or later.

It includes:

PatentApplicationGuide.pdf - the instructions
uspatent.cls - LaTeX class file based on memoir
uspatent.layout - LyX layout file that goes with uspatent.cls

PatentApplication.tex - A skeleton starting document for LaTeX
PatentApplication.lyx - A skeleton starting document for LyX
Drawings.lyx - An example drawings file for a LyX patent application

TpXDrawing.tpx - An example TpX (TikZ) drawing for drawing annotation
VisioDrawing.vsd, VisioMainDrawing.vsd, VisioDrawing.pdf - Example Visio drawings
InkscapeDrawing.svg, InkscapeDrawing.pdf, InkscapeDrawing.pdf_tex - Example Inkscape drawings

Make a folder called "MyInvention" and put all of these files in it. Rename one of the skeleton
application files to MyInvention.tex or .lyx depending on which you are using and begin editing
these documents to produce your application. It's all in the Guide provided.

Happy TeX patenting,
