I noticed that most trainer cards from ex to hgss that were only labeled "trainer" had the "item" subtype. I added the subtype to the few of them that did not have it, i.e. to all of the cards that matched this query:
supertype:trainer -subtypes:"*" -set.id:"base*" -set.id:"neo*" -set.id:"gym*" -set.id:"ecard*" -set.id:"bp"
