Quake II RTXPerimental Wiki

What is Quake II RTXPerimental?

Quake II RTXPerimental is my 'playing field', taking Q2RTX, and attempt to gradually add various modern features, as well as overall structural changes/improvements to the code. In doing so, there will be a point in time where it stops serving a somewhat Quake 2 game code, while intending to replace it by a more generic game template itself.

Who is it for?

As you can probably tell by the previous section, it is intended for people who'd like to actually use the Q2RTX engine for total conversion needs.

Should I use it?

This entirely depends on if you feel any of the changes made so far are all you need in comparison to the vanilla Q2RTXP project. As well as accepting that it is a continuously changing code base for a long time to come. Including also possibly unknown bugs. When found and reported as an issue however, I'll try to work them out. It goes without saying that a friendly warm PR is entirely welcome also.

Where do I start?

The active branch for starting a project or any maintenance such as submitting additional features, and/or bug fixes, is the development branch. It will always contain the latest features and be considerd as testing. There are also version tagged releases available, which come the necessary content data in order to properly run the binaries with.
