Non ASCII strings set in Javascript show up as ? in Firefox #717

For example my name in Icelandic. Róbert Viðar Bjarnason shows up fine in Chrome 36 but as R?bert Vi?ar Bjarnason in Firefox when set in Polymer Javascript methods.

I am having the same issue with IE11.

Firefox and IE seem to base64 encode some extended ascii characters just fine, but decode breaks them.
