Could we get a UX example for user authentication added to the PSK?

Similar to the one described in this Stack Overflow question?

Quoting:

In this question...

"UX" means:

The COMPLETE "user-experience" involved in signing up for a new account, logging in and handling forgotten user id or password. For example, a typical landing page for a typical web app will usually have some buttons in the upper right corner for signing up for a new account and logging in. What happens when someone clicks those buttons and how to handle the entire flow would be a very useful example for Polymer developers given that functionality is necessary for most modern web apps. I would love to not have to create my own amateurish "home-brew" concoction from scratch for a solution but, instead, to have something relatively professional and generic I can "plug-n-play" into my app and modify only if/when necessary.

I would be very interested in this, however I think this is maybe out of the scope of the starter kit.

The IO 2015 webapp has authentication, you can find the source here. Might be very difficult to extract that part though (and I believe it is not even on the most recent Polymer).

I think it is within the scope of the starter kit. Just about every web app needs user authentication and with all the moving parts, it would be nice to have a Polymer boilerplate example to follow instead of making a "home-brew concoction."

Plus there is a general consensus on the Polymer Slack Site that it would help a lot to have a complete user auth UX example added to the PSK.

You certainly have my vote Marla-le. Additionally this is a requested feature from the Polymer Slack group.

I think it would be a good addition

I just learned we can not post <paper-dialog modal> elements inside <paper-drawer-panel>. Is this true???

If true, then we REALLY need a professional authentication UX example — more than ever — to implement our Polymer apps.

Here's the StackOverflow post.

Given that every app has different user authentication needs, I think this is out of scope. Not everybody needs auth and I think it's better to keep PSK slim. A good blog post on this topic or a good demo repo might be better.

Just about every web app needs user authentication

I already disagree there. Not every app needs authentication.

FWIW i'll be talking about doing user auth at Polymer Summit in september. Maybe that can work as the needed blog post/video?

Sure, that sounds great. I'm starting to regret I won't be there. Maybe we should open a docs issue to write something up too?

I think a docs issue to either write something or link up to that work from Rob would be great.

A docs issue here or in Polymer/docs? I think the latter makes more sense, or not?

Personally fine with the latter. The new docs ideas I've heard factor in PSK a lot more than the current docs set does and I think this could fit in well there.

Alright, opening an issue.

Link? :) Or still private atm?

New doc set ideas are mostly just a glimmer in my eye at this point, @arthurvr.

Should we close this in favor of the docs ticket?
