Until now we haven't quite nailed the community homepage experience. This newspaper-style view aggregates content from all the Community subpages and brings the latest into a single page. You'd access this by clicking Community in the nav and it would live at /community.
Some notes below...
Social content sourced from Slack
We can resurrect our Slack post importer which can take threads posted on Slack and turn them into community posts.
In the community forum, we'd create forum topics (with similar names to our fun channels like #whereintheworld, #devrel-random and perhaps even something industry or YC-related) so our community can post to them as well.
But since our team is unlikely to share directly to our community (vs in Slack), we can selectively choose which threads to post publicly to seed the new categories.
Some content would need to be manually refreshed weekly/bi-weekly (we can task this to Ops) like Meet a team member, A musing from the CEO (which is just a Tweet I pulled)
Other content can be updated automatically (team member anniversaries, new hires)
I want to replace the Substack signup form with our own (more customization) and we can autofill the email input with a signed in user's email
There's a slot for a comic, if we want to go that far
The crossword ideas is based off using this open source package. I didn't really finish designing this part, but we can easily copy UIs from major news publications who use this exact package already.

I like this direction. Some random assorted thoughts:
I feel like stuff in our Slack is very interesting to us, but not at all interesting to passers by. Would rather see that space show changelog updates / WIP updates on what we're working on etc.
Would this be a good place for some kind of community leaderboard using the points system thingy?
I like the comic idea. Would be a fun little regular project we could update once a month. Less keen on crossword, but don't feel strongly.
I really like the concept. +1 to @andyvan-ph's points re: going for changelog or similar over Slack updates.
If we're going for a newspaper look and feel it might he fun to play around with having a proper name and flag rather than 'Inside Posthog' in small text.
Might also be fun/cute to ape some other small design elements – a clearer P1/main headline, for example and bylines/headshots as you've currently got under WIP, a little graphic showing the local weather???
Using the 'posts' section right in the middle to get the newsletter front and center would be great. I don't know if we'd want to just have newsletter articles shown there and surface blogs/over content elsewhere?
