Configuring the network

Poweruser edited this page May 27, 2014 · 1 revision

As PowerServer is a master server application, it needs to be accessible for the game servers and the clients. PowerServer operates two ports on your server, those are UDP 27900 and TCP 28900

I did not chose the numbers, so excuse me. Those are the ports that the GameSpy master server had used for certain task. To ensure compatibility with the already existing applications that were configured for the GameSpy master server, I chose to use the exact same ports for my master server.

What the ports are for in detail:

  • UDP 27900:
On this port the master server will listen for incoming heartbeats from the game servers, incoming heartbeat broadcasts from the other master servers. As well as sending query requests from this port to the game server and receiving the query answers from the game server.
  • TCP 28900:
On this port the master server will listen for incoming connections from the clients, for querying the list of game servers
