next steps: adding an icon #1071
Conversation
The next step after installing an application is generally adding an icon to the AppVM, so it may be good to refer this as a next step here. Possibly what originated confusion with [this user on the forum](https://qubes-os.discourse.group/t/issues-installing-transmission/1315)
This should happen automatically. No manual step should be necessary. If there is some bug preventing this from working correctly, please file a bug report instead. |
I think @deeplow meant going to appropriate VM settings "Applications" tab and actually selecting the application to be included in the menu. That doesn't happen automatically when you install new application, |
Thanks. This is it @marmarek. Sorry for the confusion @andrewdavidwong |
I think that this way of writing it is a bit too confusing. It makes it sound like some more complex manual step than what it is. Will close from separate commit. |
Also, the "Managing shortcuts to applications in AppVMs" page is really about troubleshooting this process. It normally shouldn't be required, so it doesn't really belong under "Common Tasks." |
Also capitalize the "S" in "Qube Settings". Unfortunately, this is somewhat inconsistent between the Qube Manager and the Qubes Domains widget. Hopefully, capitalizing both words makes it clear that this is also the title of something, rather than the commonplace but erroneous capitalization of the term "qube" to refer to a VM. See QubesOS/qubes-issues#4723. This is a follow-up to #1071.
As mentioned in #1071, this page is really about troubleshooting. Reading this page normally shouldn't be required, so it doesn't really belong under "Common Tasks." The only exception to this would be non-Linux VMs for which a manual sync is required. That's one argument in favor of moving this under "Advanced Configuration" rather than "Troubleshooting," but at least half of this page is undeniably about troubleshooting. There's also a "behind the scenes" section at the end that belongs in the Developer Documentation.
Ok. No problem. Thanks |
