GPU dies on monitor re-connect

ROCm 1.6-180, Ubuntu 16.04.3, RxVega64.

This is what I do:

1. I disconnect the monitor (HDMI),
2. after a few seconds, I re-connect the same monitor, on the same slot.

The GPU dies, see dmesg trace below.
This seems to happen not every time (not 100% reproducible).

I had a similar problem on my box with the amd-staging kernel. I fixed it by adding tsc=unstable to my boot options
