Quick summary

It is not possible to progress into certain sections of the game because the gate matrix view is broken. This can also get you stuck with no way out. Unfortunately this more or less breaks the game and I got stuck this way.

Details

There are two views available when choosing where to go, gate matrix is the default. It is possible to change it by pressing L1 but this does not work when you closed a gate and will get you stuck. Also see the forum post I created.

gate matrix overlap

As you can see, the two portals overlap and you can not go back. I already tried things like switching to the interpreter instead of the LLVM recompiler but unfortunately this did not change anything.
In this case you can only go right. The portal needed to go back to the main view is overlapping with the currently selected one.
The map in the top right shows the layout how it is supposed to be.

This does not happen on a real PS3.

I recompiled the git version of RPCS3 to make sure it is not fixed already.

Setup:

  • OS: Arch Linux
  • CPU: Ryzen 1600af
  • GPU: AMD rx 570 (OC version)
  • RAM: 8 GB DDR4

Here is a save where you should be in the bugged gate matrix view upon loading it.

@FinishedFragment can you update with current RPCS3 build?

Nevermind - I encountered this too using a recent build.

However, though I haven't seen this happen on a real PS3 myself, from this post, it seems at least one person has (actually in looking through that post further, that issue is not related to this one).

I tested again after PR #11972 was merged, since that one seemed like it could help, but it didn't. That said it's difficult to tell whether this is a PPU/SPU issue, a graphics issue or something else.

Incidentally my own specs are:

  • OS: Linux Mint 20.3 / kernel 5.13
  • CPU: Intel i7-10870H
  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 3070 / driver 510.60
  • Commit: e243ef5

Also, for reference: here is the gate matrix view as it looks when working properly (it's not specified whether the video is taken from a PS3 though).
