Was able to reproduce and confirm it happens only when signature spoofing is turned on.

The patch probably needs another hook to set the preferred video quality, just as the seekbar thumbnail needed.

@98xe if you'd like, you can try uninstalling ReVanced YouTube, then patch and install YouTube 18.37.36 (a supported version), and see if the issue still exists.

I also had the same issue and i didn't know how to "fix" it until i saw this Post.

Quality is also low on the new thumbnail preview, which is still on a/b testing i believe, but is starting to become more widespread lately. Perhaps it uses the same thumbnails as filmstrip overlay?

Edit: Cancel that, seems to be low when signature spoofing is turned off as well
