Motivation

For now Sync is the only good Lemmy app, other apps are not as good as Sync, they're buggy and slow.

I believe this is in reference to Sync for Reddit specifically, but some features of ultra are server sided in sync for lemmy (such as translation & cloud backup) that probably have API costs tied to them.

this feature request is for "sync for Lemmy" which is newly released. the ultra subscriptions are also still available for this new app and the developer of course has to pay for infrastructure to handle providing those features.

What I meant is that the ultra features should be locked server side, they are not unlockable.

I believe pretty much all of Ultra's features are all server sided. Except for maybe highlighting users, but even that has cloud sync and may not work without it.

Same as for "Sync for Reddit" the Premium features aren't necessary for a good application experience in my opinion and should stay there for those that want to support the development, removing Ads is already more than enough from the usage I've gotten out of it.

This has been implemented. Issue can be closed
