RG351V v2 Install Instructions

Temporary steps to get UnofficialOS working on the Anbernic RG351V ver.2 (New Screen)

Fresh Install

  1. Flash the RG351V image with your favorite image writing tool (Balena Etcher, Raspberry Pi Imager, Win32 Disk Imager, dd etc.)
  2. Go into the partition with the extlinux folder and the DTB files. Copy the ver 2 DTB file, and replace the existing rk3326-rg351v-linux.dtb on the SD card with the new one. MAKE SURE this does not end with the ver2 extension, but with dtb.
  3. Go into the extlinux folder, and edit the extlinux.conf file with your text editor of choice to make sure it points at the new DTB.
  4. Insert the SD card into the 351V, and boot normally. The screen should function as normal.

Manual or OTA Update

  1. Update by either Over the Air (OTA) updates, or via the TAR method.
  2. Allow the device to restart and boot as it normally would.
  3. Shut down the device safely if possible. The inputs to shut down without being able to see the screen are as follows: START > D_PAD UP > A > D_PAD UP > D_PAD UP > A > A This will safely shut the device down without risking SD corruption.
  4. Refer to steps 2 thru 4 in the Fresh Install instructions above to finish the setup.

We are working on something smoother, but for now, this will work to use UnofficialOS on the RG351V v2 units. Both DTB files for v1 and v2 are linked in case the original (v1) is needed to revert. If for whatever reason your screen stops working, repeating the steps should fix the issue.
