  • TIL (Blockchain) RSK -> How to use configure metamask to work at RSK testnet. Blockexplorer/faucet and remix for deploying smart contracts over there.

26/03/2020

  • TIL (Defi) Uniswap -> I learned how Uniswap V2 improved on chain oracle manipulation: -> Storing the "last block asset price" -> Manipulators need to manipulate two blocks in a row now. -> Using TWAP (Time Weightned Avg Price) -> You can set the time window you willl use to your application. Higher the time window, higher is the cost of manipulation.

Pt2 - Uniswap History

  • Dan Robinson helped him with gas efficient contract during a flight
  • Ric burton (Wallet founder) helped him in the beggining
  • Hired one great developer to build the entire frontend
  • Formal Verification in addition to Security Audit

28/03/2020

  • TIL (Frontend) React Hooks -> How to implement Private Route w/ Context. Also learned that useContext() is the same as <Context.Consumer> and you should pass a handler through <Context.Provider> if you want to change the context from a child component

  • TIL (Misc) Vscode -> Learned how to configure standarjs to run onSave, and changed keyboard biding to run this on SHIFT ALT F

  • TIL (Backend) Firebase -> How to handle Login/Signup/Logout w/ email and password using Firebase. And How to deploy a react app to firebase Hosting service.

30/03/2020

  • TIL (Ethereum) Solidity -> Had a Meetup with Jeff Prestes explaning the changes for solidity 0.6 version. Basically now you have fallback and receive functions. Array.pop() method, abstract, and others. ABIENCODERV2 is now safe!

  • TIL (Defi) UMA -> Tested new UMA price oracle approach. The problem they are solving is reducing the amount of times MakerDAO updates their oracle unnecessary. In their approach a person trying to liquidate or withdraw needs to wait a time window of 1 hour, and them we have monetary incentives for "validators" to attempt a band intention liquidation/withdraw.

  • TIL (Ethereum) Remix -> Improved my remix proficiency level, deployed on mainnet and testnets some contracts.

09/04/2020

  • TIL (DeFi) FlashLoan -> Did a talk showing three flashloan use cases: 1) Onchain Arbritage / 2) Yield borrowing transfer / 3) Vaults liquidations. And a working example of a flashloan contract ono Kovan with Remix.

  • TIL (Frontend) Magic -> Magic is a passwordless Fortmatic implementation using Dencentralized identifiersDID. Its a new type of a global unique identifier. Read their integration with firebase and, but didnt implemented yet.

  • TIL (Fundraising) Convertible Note -> Found this channel with a lot of simple explanations about the fundraising proccess. Understood that CN is much easier and fast proccess to raise funds before you know what is your first valuation. It works like a Loan, that you pay instead of money, in shares of you next investment round. And as a Loan, it has interest rate, maturity date, a cap, and a discount factor based on the next valuation. Obs: Also learn that in business, you hardly ever split/sell your own shares (change ownership) Unless the business is actually acquired. Usually you "mint/issue" new shares and dilute your own shares.

There are two simpified templates that we can use as a Convertible Note: KISS (Keep it simple security) from 500 startups and SAFE (Simple Agreement of Future Equity) from Ycombinator.

  • TIL (Ethereum) v2 -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4J3RWVNzPw
phase0 -> Beaconchain (You will stake on eth1 to mint eth on eth2) just one way
    phase1 -> ? phase2 ->

  • TIL (Ethereum) WETH -> Learned that wETH is simply a contract that is ERC20, with a mint and a burn functions, the mint, lock in the contract the msg.value.

  • TIL (Enterpreuner) Licenses -> Remember the difference of open-source (permissive licenses) and free software(prohibited licenses). Learn how to correctly give credits for forked repos under MIT license:

24/04/2020

  • TIL (Software Developer) Gitbook -> Learned how to create a gitbook and add Google analytics to it. (Still need to learn how to integrate gitbook directly to github)

25/04/2020

  • TIL (Ethereum) Solidity -> Read about solidity patterns. Very good source to start getting deeper understanding about security issues. Read about reentrancy security issues: The Ethereum Virtual Machine does not allow for concurrency . That leads to some problems that developers usually don't think about it, it's a problem kind of unique to the Ethereum development.

  • TIL (DeFi) Aave -> Read two updated blog posts showing some improvements. Learned two main things: 0.13% of all LEND was burnt until now (1.2BI token supply and 1.6M burnt). Some aspects to have in mind when analyzing Monetary Policy:
  • Fixed supply? How much? market cap / asset price
  • Burning Rate? What make token burn? Fees? When? Every CDP/vault repayment (MakerDAO)? Every Loan or Flashlloan (like aave?)
  • Do they increase supply in any way?

  • TIL (Ethereum) Meta Transactions -> Started to learn again about Meta Transactions - Gasless transactions. Usually its a common pattern paying for users (user acquisition cost) in the first case and whenever is possible, reduce his friction. Liked the Austin Griffith example: - Mobile that holds private key but dont want to hold ETH. You just sign a transaction and let a delegation caller (?) to pay the costs for you. Open zeppelin created a network of decentralized relayer to handle this thing. Still need to do the beginner tutorial guide.

  • WIL (DeFi) MakerDAO -> Learned how to intereact with Maker's Contract. All those names. .ilk (type of collateral), art (type of collateral inside urn), dart (amount of debt in urn), join -> frob -> hope -> exit. To open a CDP. Also you need a function to calculate your current debt and another one to frob and remove collateral from urn.

  • TIL (DeFi) TokenEconomics -> Learned that a movement that protocol are trying to decentralize themselves beeing a mixing of MKR and SNX mechanism:
  • Voting on proposals / Delegating Votings
  • Emergency reserves, minting and selling that token in that case
  • Staking + weekly/daily/usage Rewards

  • TIL (Finance) -> Alpha (retorno) => número dado pra diferença de retorno entre o seu investimento e um index ou benchmarking. (e.g: DSR 1%, compound 2%. Alpha Compound seria 1.0. An alpha of 1.0 means the investment outperformed its benchmark index by 1%.

Beta (volatilidade) =>número dado pra diferença de volatilidade entre um asset e um índice. Isto é, quanto um ativo varia de preço perante uma referência:
(e.g: Micron Technology Inc. (MU): 1.26 Coca-Cola Company (KO): .37 Apple Inc. (AAPL): .99

We can see that Micron is 26% more volatile than the market as a whole, while Coca-Cola is 37% as volatile as the market, and Apple is more in line with the market or 0.01% less volatile than the market. https://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/102714/whats-difference-between-alpha-and-beta.asp
