I would be nice to be able to add an extra scale to the horizontal and/or vertical axis. See for example: http://matplotlib.org/examples/api/two_scales.html
The values on the extra axis can then be related to the original axis via an arbitrary function.

Perhaps this is more representative of the suggested feature: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10514315/how-to-add-a-second-x-axis-in-matplotlib Since here there is still only 1 dataset (as is in our case) instead of 2 in the example above.
