GTL Configurations

There are multiple GTL settings within ucvm, and the behavior of various combinations is not obvious. The following plots show the impact of various plotting configurations.

  • CVM-H-GTL - CVM-Harvard represents a Unified Structural Representation Southern California VM.
  • CVM-S5-GTL - CVM-S5 (scientific name CVM-S4.26) is the 26th iteration of a tomography improved version of CVM-S4.
  • CVM-S4-GTL - CVM-S4 is the original SCEC rule-based velocity model
  • CVMSI - CVMSI (scientific name CVM-S4.26.M01) is CVM-S4.26 model with the CVM-S4 GTL restored in order to add low Vs values in the uppper 350m.
  • CCA - CCA (scientific name Central California Model) is a tomography-improved velocity model for central California based on CVM-S4 and Cencal as starting models.
  • 1D - A modified Hadley-Kanamori 1D velocity model
  • BBP1D - A 1D model developed to support Northridge earthquake validation simulations.

List of Models and their UCVM abbreviations

UCVM queries use a model abbrevation to select the model being queried. A summary of the available models and their UCVM abbreviations is listed on the registered model page:
