Whenever your friend posts a problem, it shows up on your timeline screen so that you can go solve them right away.
Helpful answers are rewarded with cookies. Every post has two cookies that can be awarded by the post's owner to the most helpful comment on that post. These cookies then show up on that person's profile page.
