Welcome to the jailm8 wiki!

This is just like any other bootable version of checkra1n, but with lots of new features

Requirements

  • A usb drive with only one partition, and at least 200 Mb of storage
  • An amd64 computer
  • An idevice
  • A usb cable to connect to the idevice

Instructions

  1. Download the latest release from here
  2. Download the latest version of rufus from here
  3. Plug in your usb drive, and open rufus
  4. Select the iso you downloaded from step 1

Make sure that the filesystem is set to FAT or FAT32, NTFS breaks jailm8

  1. Click start

Warning: This will format your usb and delete all data, so make sure to make a backup of any important files

  1. Once the write process finishes, switch your computer off
  2. Turn your computer on, but enter the bios settings or a one time boot menu using a hotkey (these are different depending on the computer)
  3. Select your usb drive from the boot menu
  4. It should say GRUB LOADING, and eventually load into checkra1n, if you get an authentication error, try disabling secure or safe boot
  5. To jailbreak normally, simply continue, otherwise follow the next part

Project sandcastle

Before jailbreaking

  1. Open checkra1n and click on the options tab
  2. In the boot arguements box, type "-p" (no quote marks)
  3. Continue jailbreaking normally, and you should be booted into whats called Pongo OS
  4. Click quit in checkra1n
  5. You should be at a command prompt
  6. This step depends on the OS you wish to boot into:

To boot android, make sure you have run isetup on your device beforehand, and then type "android"

To boot into linux, which doesn't require any prior setup, simply type "linux"

  1. You should boot into your desired OS

Irecovery

If your device gets stuck in recovery mode, you can use the irecovery command to get it out of recovery

Simply type "irecovery -n" to get your phone out of recovery

To see all of the irecovery commands, type "irecovery -h"

Additions

This is no longer just a checkra1n iso, it is now a tool for much more, which is why I am open to more additions, so feel free to ask by filing an issue here
