Fly-Pie settings menu automatically closes itself after 20 seconds... #310
Comments
@Schneegans This is the precise error I see when running the grepped journalctl command...

Hi there! When did this start to happen? Given the fact that Fly-Pie hasn't seen any major updates in last last couple of months and that nobody else reported a similar problem, I would expect this to be an issue which is very specific to your system. So instead of asking everywhere on the internet, you could try to debug this on your end. Here are a few things you could try:
And please be patient. If I do not respond quick enough for your liking, help fixing the issue instead of complaining! I will be on holiday for a couple of weeks and will answer only sporadically. |
No worries, Simon, thank you very much for your time. I think I will first start with a fresh install of Ubuntu. One thing that I KNOW that might be a confounding variable is the fact that I have a slightly problematic "kubuntu" installation, which actually prevents me from simply upgrading to 23.04 (lunar lobster). What I will do no is attempt to get it running on a virtual machine, and in about a week I should have my 23.04 iso downloaded on a newly purchased flashdrive. I will keep you updated! Thank you for your understanding and support. It means a lot! |
Hello Simon! I upgraded to GNOME 23.04 (Lunar lobster) and have had ZERO issues! I think it was because I had a KDE shell downloaded alongside my GNOME shell, and they may have been conflicting in terms of pointer access within the glib libraries. At any rate, thank you very much for your patience! Back to using the custom flypie implementation! |
Awesome! Just let me know if it occurs again, then we will find a solution! Anyways, your desktop setup looks pretty dope 😄 |
Describe the Bug
After opening the flypie settings menu, it seems to close after 20 or so seconds.
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
I simply open the settings menu. In about 20 seconds or so, it closes itself without me pressing anything
You may also check the output of GNOME Shell for any error messages related to Fly-Pie.
This can be done with the following terminal command:
journalctl -f -o cat | grep -E 'flypie|'
