Description

Harnessing the Power of Odoo
Let's dive into the world of Odoo, the all-in-one business management software. In this talk, we will explore how Odoo revolutionizes the way companies operate by seamlessly integrating various business functions into a single, cohesive platform. We will explore core modules as

  • sales
  • CRM
  • inventory management
  • accounting, and beyond
  • website and ecommerce

Odoo streamlines processes, enhances productivity, and drives growth. We will learn how Odoo's user-friendly interface empowers teams, improves collaboration, and simplifies complex workflows. Furthermore, i will delve into real-world success stories of organizations leveraging Odoo to streamline their operations, reduce costs, and boost profitability and provide italian examples of companies that uses Odoo(some configured and managed by me).

We will also do coding session by creating some modules for Odoo. In this coding session, we will walk you through the process of creating a custom module in Odoo from scratch. We'll start with an introduction to the Odoo framework, explaining its architecture, key concepts, and how it enables rapid application development.

Together, we'll explore the structure of an Odoo module, including models, views, and controllers, and discuss best practices for organizing your code. You'll learn how to define and manipulate data models, create user interfaces with custom views, and implement business logic using controllers.

Throughout the session, we'll demonstrate various coding techniques and patterns commonly used in Odoo development. We'll cover topics like creating new fields, relationships between models, handling model constraints, and implementing automated actions and workflows.

In addition, we'll delve into Odoo's powerful ORM (Object-Relational Mapping) and its query capabilities, enabling you to retrieve and manipulate data efficiently. We'll showcase how to use ORM methods to perform CRUD operations, apply filters, perform joins, and aggregate data.

This coding session is suitable for developers with a basic understanding of Python and web development concepts. Whether you're new to Odoo or already have some experience, this session will provide you with practical knowledge and hands-on coding exercises to enhance your Odoo development skills.

Come prepared with your laptop and development environment set up, as we'll be providing you with a coding sandbox where you can follow along and practice. By the end of the session, you'll have the foundation to create your own custom modules in Odoo and unleash its full potential for your business needs.

Join us for this immersive coding experience and discover the endless possibilities of Odoo development. Don't miss out on this opportunity to expand your technical expertise and take your Odoo projects to the next level!

Hi there, a couple of questions since we are now trying to do a planning for the new season.

  • Is this workshop been presented in a conference or elsewhere? If yes, do you have a link to the replay?
  • In a scenario where the event will be hosted in Paris, Brussels or Milan/Turin, are you willing to come at your own expenses?

If possible, could give us a draft timeline of your workshop? Divided in chapter as you already did but adding also some time ranges e.g.

sales ~ 10m
CRM ~ 20m
inventory management ~ 20m
live conding custom inventory management ~ 15m
PAUSE ~ 10m
accounting, and beyond ~ 30m
website and ecommerce ~ 15m
live coding ~ 30m
QA ~ 15m

So we can have a big picture on this workshop idea and eventually schedule it to the best place :)

Looking forward!

Hi Michele
First one: No it wasn't because the workshop i will do its based on real scenario of a big migration to odoo from some TeamSystem products so as it was completed like 1 year ago i had no way to do it.
Second one: Yes i will do it by my self. Anyway as a mention, I specified to the guys organizing my spoken English is not ready enough to deal with such a situation. I of course made a presentation in English so that we cover both audiences.
Timeline
sales : ~ 10m
crm : ~ 10m
inventory management: ~ 10m
PAUSE ~ 10m
accounting and beyond ~ 15m
website and ecommerce ~ 15m
live coding ~ 30m
QA ~ 15m

Thank you

Hi @andrei-borcea,

Today we had a little internal call and if is ok with you we are thinking about planning this workshop for December of this year (2023), maybe in a location more convenient for you and us in Pisa. We are going to have a small chat with our friends in Pisa to see if we can manage to do it in one of the available locations there. Is it ok with you?

Do you have some room in your calendar to get a small talk on our discord server and set the things up? To understand what you miss or what you need to have in order to be confident in doing the workshop.

let us know 👍

Hi @Wabri
For me it's ok but I don't have any issue to move also to other cities.
If the only one is Pisa let's go for it.
Let me know.
Thank you

Hi @andrei-borcea, at the moment there are no dates in program and no contributor free to manage an event other than open source day 2024 at least for a workshop.
