Hosts an HTTP server for collaborative Minecraft datapack editing using the Monaco editor.
If you've already installed the server, skip to Updating.
TL;DR:
git clone https://github.com/SheepTester/multiplayer-datapack.git
cd multiplayer-datapack
npm install --global ts-node
npm install
curl "https://github.com/SheepTester/multiplayer-datapack/releases/download/v1.0.3/build.zip" -L > build.zip
unzip build.zip -d build
echo "PASSWORD=your password here" > .env
npm start -- -b path/to/datapack
Here are the steps in more detail:
-
Clone this repository and install the Node dependencies. You'll need to have Node installed.
# Clone repository git clone https://github.com/SheepTester/multiplayer-datapack.git cd multiplayer-datapack # Install dependencies npm install --global ts-node npm install
-
Set the password by creating a
.env
file containingPASSWORD=your password here
where
your password here
is the password people should enter in order to be able to access the files. The security right now is pretty lame, so your life shouldn't depend on this. -
Build the editor.
-
You can get the pre-built editor from the releases page. Unzip it in this folder.
-
You can also build it yourself.
# Build editor for production npm run build
-
-
Start the server.
npm start -- -b path/to/datapack/folder -p 3000
You can do
npm start -- --help
for a list of options.
It should be fairly simple to update to the latest version. TL;DR:
git pull
npm install
curl "https://github.com/SheepTester/multiplayer-datapack/releases/download/v1.0.3/build.zip" -L > build.zip
unzip -o build.zip -d build
npm start -- -b path/to/datapack
You'll have to download and unzip the built editor again, or build it yourself (see step 3 above).
# Download update
git pull
# Install new dependencies
npm install
# Download and unzip the editor. You might be able to do that with these
# commands:
curl "https://github.com/SheepTester/multiplayer-datapack/releases/download/v1.0.3/build.zip" -L > build.zip
unzip build.zip -d build
# Start the server
npm start -- -b path/to/datapack/folder -p 3000
I believe this requires ts-node
and nodemon
globally installed.
npm install --global nodemon
# Concurrently start watching for changes in editor/. --host 0.0.0.0 will make
# the server listen for other computers in the network.
npm run serve -- --port 10070 --host 0.0.0.0 &
# Start local server that monitors changes in server/ and hosts the server on
# port 10068.
nodemon -- --port 10068 --debug "http://localhost:10070"
