Unable to track conversions on my Hydrogen site with Google analytics

I have Google Analaytics set up in my current site (Running on Hydrogen 2.0) to track various events (page views, add to cart, search, begin checkout).

However, I'm not getting any events being tracked for purchase and for payment info added. Basically the events that take place in the checkout page.

The events used to work just fine when running the site on Liquid but since launching the Hydrogen site it has stopped work. Is this potentially because they are 2 separate domains?

In my case for example, I have

• canopey.com For shopping
• canopey.myshopify.com/checkout/xx For checkouts

I'm sure this is a common use case and there must be a fix for this? It's also quite urgent because we can't start spending on our marketing budget until we have a fix for this.

I'm struggling to understand if the issue is with Shopify, Google or something that I've done wrong but it's also very hard to figure out as Hydrogen's analytics is quite hard to understand.

I believe this is indeed happening to the difference in top-level domains.

Could you try following this guide to point your online store/checkout to a subdomain such as checkout.canopey.com ?

I think whilst it has resolved an issue where none of our scripts were working when we went to post confirmation page, there's nothing we can do to track the checkout events still.

I tried doing this in my root.tsx file:
useShopifyCookies({hasUserConsent: true, domain: 'my-shop.com'}); but this still hasn't fixed the issue.

I don't see the cookies for _shopify_y and _shopify_s.

Would really appreciate it if you have any suggestions here. We're looking to start our marketing campaign and we can't do it unless we can track conversion which has the potential to be detrimental to our business.

@raufabr — just to confirm, you should have useShopifyCookies({hasUserConsent: true, domain: 'canopey.com'}); for your particular configuration, not my-shop.com … did you do that?

The key here is that both top level domains on Hydrogen and Checkout remain the same and are what the cookies are set on.

Ah … looking at your site now I can see _shopify_y and _shopify_s so I'm assuming you figured this out. Let me know if it's still an issue.
