I'm having the same issue. Mac OS X, did exactly the same steps, filled in open AI secret key and AI is stuck on Thinking... |

Just wanted to give u guys an update on the issue I had with Auto-GPT where it kept getting stuck on "Thinking...". Someone here told me to try running the command with --debug, and here's what I got:
So I did a bit of digging around, looked at the OpenAI API docs and my account, and it turns out my CREDIT GRANTED is expired and there's no payment method set up. I think this could be causing the problem. I'm gonna try adding a payment method to my account and see if that fixes things. Will let u all know how it goes once I've given it a shot. Thanks for all the help so far. If anyone has any other ideas or suggestions, I'd love to hear them! |

This worked for me! For those stuck on Thinking; or in debug mode, receiving "API Bad Gateway", make sure you have payment information on the Platform for OpenAI (which is different than paying for $20 a month for ChatGPT). Go to this page to access your Platform settings. https://platform.openai.com/ |

As stated ChatGPT Plus is different from the ChatGPT API. Adding a payment method worked for me. I went to https://platform.openai.com/account/billing/overview and added a payment method. Credit card. You can view your usage https://platform.openai.com/account/usage. For me I added the payment method while AutoGPT was "Thinking..." and the Bad Gateway error went away so it's a pretty quick update. After adding the payment method I was able to run a few tasks - cost me about $0.05 to run my test example. The more tokens the more it costs and I had it search many websites. |

You have to setup paid account in openAI to resolve the Thinking issue . Once you do that it will start working for you. |

Make the ai python code better by instead of write_to_file it is append_to_file. Why does the python code not have parameters of control? It is writing based off of simple code, which will not get the job done. SnakeGod |

Well, that's not quite it. The open source community was never ready for a open source project of this scale. The project has a hard time coordinating improvements, because there has never been a project with this much traction before, which leads to a lot of sloppiness in how the code is written. For context. Auto-GPT is only 7 weeks old. It started in mid-march. If you subscribe to "All notifications" on this repo, you'll get a good glimpse of this problem. This repo is absolute chaos at all times, and it is only 7 weeks old... |

AutoGPT Issue Resolved: Payment Method AddedHey everyone, Just wanted to give a quick update on my previous post about that Auto-GPT "Thinking..." issue I was having. Well, good news, I managed to fix it! 😀 So, in my last post, I found out that my credit granted had expired and I didn't even have a payment method set up. So, I went ahead and added a payment method to my account, and the AutoGPT started working ! Here's a rundown of what I did:
Now when I run the command, I don't get stuck with that "Thinking..." issue anymore, and those pesky rate limit errors are gone too. Looks like the missing payment method was the problem all along! I wanna thank all of u who helped me out and gave suggestions, especially the one who told me to try running the command with --debug. That really helped me pinpoint the issue! If any of u guys run into similar issues, I'd recommend checking ur account's payment method and making sure it's all set up right. Hello everyone,
I recently started working with the Auto-GPT project, and I've encountered an issue that I'd appreciate some help with. After setting up the project according to the installation guide, I was able to run it successfully. However, once I entered my name, role, and goal, the terminal seems to be stuck in a "Thinking..." state and doesn't proceed further.
